500 trainees (60% women) received hospitality skills training
300 trainees (60% women) received pre-employment training in the Hoka Hospitality Training Program in 2023 under the SDF co-funding package in collaboration with STC. After completing this training, up to 97% of trainees found jobs with a decent salary, which can support daily life and ease the burden on their families.
Based on the excellent training achievements in the first phase, SDF continued to support STC on the pre-employment skills training Project for 200 participants (60% women) in the second phase, which was organized by STC on July 22nd, 2024, at Angkor University, Borey Seang Nam Street, Siem Reap Province.
The second training program focuses on four skills, including: 1) front office, 2) food and beverage services, 3) housekeeping, and 4) chefs. Participants who enroll in this training course will receive both theoretical and practical study for 4 months. In addition, many other benefits that participants will receive include:
- $50 monthly allowance
- Free study and training materials during the study
- 2 meals during the study
- For trainees from faraway districts, STC will provide accommodation
- Provide health care as well as security during the study
- Obtained a degree recognized by the Ministry of Tourism
- After successful completion of the training, participants will have the opportunity to get a job from a partner of the STC with a reasonable salary
SDF would like to congratulate the opening ceremony of this hospitality training course and continue to support STC and other training providers in strengthening and expanding human capital that can ensure the sustainability of tourism vocational training in line with demand labor market in tourism, as well as expand cooperation with relevant partners at the sub-national, national and international levels, as well as all relevant institutions in the development of quality tourism, active competition, sustainability and environment for a new future to ensure that Cambodia can achieve its vision of long-term development, especially to participate in achieving the vision of 2030 and 2050 of the Royal Government.
Notably, from 2018 to mid-2024, the SDF will provide a contribution of $3.45 million to support human capital training programs in the tourism sector, with a total of 4,434 participants, including 1,871 females (42%).
